The Bay Area newspaper market has been characterized as highly competitive, tough to break into, growing and very profitable. Those descriptions are mostly true, but certainly with exceptions.
As an extremely desireable "destination" location, San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area cities attracts some of the best and brightest the business has to offer. This is not to say, however, that journalism's rookies are left to wantingly peer in from the wrong side of the glass. Lesson here is to give it a shot, cast your line in the water. You never know what you'll reel in.
