French Creek State Park
Moderate challenges and even a couple of lakes await the day hiker in this eastern Pennsylvania state park. Tucked away in Berks and Chester counties, French Creek offers up more than 7,300 acres of Mother Nature.

Thirty-two miles of well-marked trails, with parking at many a trailhead, cut through wooded hideaways. Quiet hikers might even catch a glimpse of white-tail deer.

Many of the trails are about 4 miles in length and this haven is a tolerant place for your four-legged friend. As luck would have it, trail maps are available at the ranger station. Be on the lookout for mountain bikers, too.

To get to French Creek, hop on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The park is about 14 miles southeast of Reading and 7 miles northeast of the Morgantown Interchange on PA Route 345.
